The first trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence has arrived
We’re still a few months away from the release of Independence Day 2 – also known as Independence Day: Resurgence – but the first trailer has dropped and looks absolutely unbelievable.
20th Century Fox have now released the first trailer ahead of a prime summer debut, initially slowly teasing the invasion, then ending in some all-out, world-altering destruction.
Independence Day worked because it was a wholly-comprised film that, as we thought anyway, didn’t have space for a sequel.
As a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster starring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum, just about everything in Independence Day: Resurgence is bigger.
The studio teases the film stating, “We always knew they were coming back”.
Independence Day starred Goldblum, Smith, Bill Pullman, Mary McDonnell, Vivica A. Fox, and Randy Quaid, and went on to gross a whopping $817 million worldwide. Can we triumph? We’ll have to wait and see when Independence Day: Resurgence arrives dark, noisy and with all the chaos you might expect on June 24. It’s been twenty years and Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson has been helping the world use the alien technology from the first film to shore up our defenses for a return attack. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force.
