The Flash (2×13) “Welcome to Earth-2”
In “Welcome to Earth-2”, Barry (Grant Gustin), Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) journey to Earth-2 to rescue Wells’ daughter, Jesse from Zoom.
Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) and Deathstorm (Robbie Amell) star in these stills from tonight’s all-new episode of The Flash. “Just wait until you see what we’re going to do with that Legion flight ring!”
Captured by Zoom, Barry is in prison and will start to form a connection with Harry’s daughter… just as her father and Cisco seek out assistance from an unexpected source in order to save their loved ones, according to Todd Helbing.
After the events of the most recent episode of The Flash, the CW show has built up even more anticipation for what comes next – and we have the first look at that in stills from Tuesday’s “Escape From Earth-2”. Glimpses of Jonah Hex, the 1990 version of The Flash, and even Supergirl are seen and tie together not only Flash and Legends of Tomorrow but also tease the recently announced crossover with CBS’ series.
The episode opens with Barry racing around Central City to close all the dimensional breaches with Cisco’s breach implosion reactor doodad. While checking out their house, Barry gets an emotional call from his mother, who isn’t dead on Earth-2.
As for the Earth-1 storyline, it’s a tad bit jammed in there, but there are some nice takeaways from the scenes.
The only times “Welcome to Earth-2” seemed to stumble were in falling for the exact trap Jay warned Barry to avoid, losing sight of the mission at hand by getting lost in the allure of another world.
But lets not get caught up in these details. “Welcome to Earth-2” sent Barry and Cisco to a parallel world where Barry is a nerd in tweed, Joe West is a lounge singer, and TVs are vertical instead of horizontal.
Now that Barry and Cisco know about all these Earth-2 doppelgangers, how will that affect them when they return to Earth-1? “It just felt the best way to introduce that ability that he has”.
After the brief pit stop at home, Iris and Barry head out to Jitterbugs, the jazz club version of Earth-1’s Jitters, where Joe West so happens to be a musician in residence.
While all this is happening, the team back on Earth-1 is having some serious trouble with a new meta-human named Geo-Mancer (Adam Stafford).
2 – You take the good with the bad. “Welcome to Earth-2” is like “Mirror, Mirror” on Velocity-6. Caitlyn vows to help Jay and develops Velocity-7 which temporarily allows Jay to fight Geomancer but soon loses his speed again. He snatches Barry-2 up and brings him back to S.T.A.R. Labs, where Dr. Wells drugs him unconscious. Personally, I still think that Jay will end up being Zoom, but I could be wrong.
In the process of things, Barry forgets his real goal and becomes bent on stopping Killer Frost and Deathstorm – the dopplegangers of Ronnie Raymond and Caitlyn Snow. At the very least, one might think that exposing his powers and throwing Earth-2 Barry’s life into disarray would be a reasonable price to pay to keep Other Iris and Other Joe alive. Well it looks like Barry and his friends, however begrudgingly, have opted for the latter.
Everything goes to hell rather quickly with Deathstorm and Reverb attacking Barry before Zoom shows up and kills the two for disobeying him before whisking Barry away to his lair.
