The ‘Free Fire’ Red Band Trailer Puts Brie Larson Under The Gun
The first trailer for Ben Wheatley’s first American-set movie “Free Fire” has blasted its way online. Martin Scorsese is the executive producer for the violent film, which stars Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Sharlto Copley and Cilian Murphy. From the screening last night, critics have described it as “insane” and a “real-time pistol opera” that is so much fun, saying it’s a entire film about that scene where the characters get pinned down in a gun fight. Fire it up below. About a weapons deal gone wrong that escalates into a manic, bullet-riddled standoff inside an abandoned warehouse. That’s the overarching thesis of Ben Wheatley’s upcoming film, Free Fire, and it looks like a insane, self-contained thrill ride.
It’s also a hair on the bloody side, but we’ve come to expect that from Wheatley and Jump. It premieres today at the Toronto International Film Festival and will serve as the closing film of the BFI London Film Festival next month, before opening on March 31st 2017 in the UK. Shooting the gun-laden Free Fire “felt like this really long, drawn-out game of laser tag”, said Larson, looking wide awake in her stunning Alexander McQueen gown during the 2 a.m. Q&A session following the film.
