The ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival Is Officially Coming To Netflix This Year
Her production company, the appropriately named Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions (considering Gilmore Girls’ fascination with literature and literary figures), will oversee the revival along with fellow original producer Daniel Palladino.
Star Lauren Graham took to her Twitter early on Friday to reveal the exciting news. The photos showed Miss Patty’s dance studio receiving a fresh coat of paint, along with the revived appearance of some Gilmore Girls-related props.
The comedy-drama set in Stars Hollow, a fictional CT town, spanned 7 seasons from 2000 to 2007.
Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop have all signed on to reprise their respective roles as Lorelai, Rory, Luke and Emily. Warner Bros. television president and chief content officer Peter Roth however told TV line that getting Sherman-Palladino back is a good decision for providing the much needed closure to the series. After being absent for the final televised season, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will be back to write and direct the movies, giving her a chance to end the series on her terms.
The Gilmore Girls are officially returning to the small screen. Other characters from Gilmore Girls who are onboard the upcoming miniseries are Sean Gunn (Kirk Gleason) and Keiko Agena (Lane Kim). Hopefully they can at least negotiate a cameo appearance out of McCarthy’s busy schedule, because a return to Stars Hallow without Sookie, wouldn’t really feel like going home at all.
Netflix hasn’t announced a title or premiere date for the revival, but it sounds like we won’t have too long to wait.
Graham also expressed her excitement to do tapings for the show noting that she has checked her scripts right away when she received them. These episodes are said to be set in present day, and will unfold over the course of one year.
