The Herald’s top three defenders in Premier League Fantasy Football this season
Although Bournemouth won plenty of plaudits for a swaggering, attacking style of football in the Championship last season, just as integral to their promotion was a tightly bound defence that conceded the second fewest number of goals in the league.
The new product will feature a European Super League format, which will enable players to pick players from five major European leagues. Starting at 5 million pounds last season, the young English striker quickly became the must have player but managers now need to ask themselves two important questions.
Those of you who entered last year (and there was a lot!), all you have to do is renew your team and you’ll automatically entered into the league. Burnley aren’t far behind in the league, and are one ahead in terms of Champions League wins – being crowned champions of Europe a massive 42 times. Heartbreaking.
All leagues will have 10-12 teams.
I mentioned earlier about fantasy football bringing the inner trash talker from your friends but if you really want to test your friendship with people, play fantasy football with them. Some other SB Nation sites limit it to just a league or two, but as I said earlier we like including everyone.
Jose likes to park the bus every now and then, Chelsea can grind out a 1-0 victory better than any side in the league so think of those clean sheets. I am, after all, in the league too. Not particularly imaginative choice – what with him being last season’s highest scoring ‘keeper – but considering you’re not going to find a first choice goalie for less, Lukasz Fabianski for £5m is a good place to start if you’re looking to save between the sticks. If you sign up, please play out the season, even if your team is riddled with injuries. You have just three forwards to pick and you need to have balance in your side.
If a league does not fill I will refund your money regardless of whether a draft date is set or not. There’s no need to leave your email address in the comment unless you want me to not use your registered email address. My only condition is you must be registered on Stampede Blue to participate, and be in good standing (not banned).
Ritchie will undeniably play a huge part in that, and considering he’s priced at just £6.0m, he could prove a fruitful little punt in your midfield.
Register with the site (it takes around a minute).
The deadline to sign up is Sunday, August 10 at 11:59pm ET. Trippier’s breakthrough year is the flawless illustration of how hard it can be to predict elite fantasy defenders but after last year’s performance, we have no problem ranking him third on our list.
