The iPad Pro Comes Quietly With A USB 3.0-Compliant Lightning Port
So by the sound of things, this would be a laptop with extra utility rather than an actual convertible as such, so theoretically something like this could still happen and Cook’s comment doesn’t totally rule this possibility out. Cook believes this isn’t what Apple’s customers may be looking for. Obviously, this feature is most important for the Surface Pro 3 since the Surface Pro 4 comes with the special cameras to allow login by facial recognition.
With the iPad Pro, Apple says it wants to reduce the barriers many business users face in a tablet form factor: processing, user interfaces and mechanisms for input. The Lightning cable that ships with the iPad Pro is a standard USB 2.0-speed cable, and you’ll need to purchase USB 3.0 cables separately when they’re released at a few undisclosed point in the future. Like with every other mobile device it makes, Apple included a Lightning port in its newest iPad.
The drawback of course to the iPad has always been the lack of input devices. And laptops, smaller iPads and competing hybrids can do numerous same tasks for less (the iPad Pro starts at $799).
Ben Thompson, an analyst who writes a daily email update on technology, described a lackluster experience that was like “fronting Apple a thousand bucks for the next month or so” before the Pencil and Smart Keyboard arrive.
The first batch of Wi-Fi and LTE enabled iPad Pro with 128 GB storage was sold on November 12. The desktop version of both apps can do far more, including keeping multiple documents open at once.
Unfortunately, at $100, Pencil is pricey, and there’s not a lot you can do with it just yet. Toward that end, Apple offers something called a Smart Keyboard, a cover for the device that turns it into a quasi-notebook computer. So we’ve taken certain features and made them more seamless across the devices. “Both accessories are not only crucial, they should have been included with the iPad Pro”. What are your opinions on the iPad pro? It was created to be more like a laptop. For example, I couldn’t work in Google Docs and keep my inbox on the screen at the same time.
