The iPhone and iPad Safari crash bug has been fixed
Users have begun reporting that Apple’s popular browser is crashing as soon as they click on the address bar. The prank website generates a long pattern of characters which is then overloaded in the address bar of the default Safari browser of Apple. He also claimed that disabling the said feature will stop Safari crashing.
Hopefully, the issue will be rectified by the time the newer, smaller iPhone 5se comes to market.
Days ago, pranksters took to social media to share a website link that crashes any iOS devices running the Safari browser. The bug causing the issue appears to surface when Safari attempts to contact Apple’s servers to get autocomplete suggestions.
Mirror Online has contacted Apple for a comment.
If you make the mistake of clicking on the link, there are a couple of things that could happen. Other than switching off search suggestions, using private mode also works as a temporary workaround for the problem.
Another method of solving the problem is to open Settings, go to Safari and switch Safari Suggestions to “Off”.
Be extra careful with any shortened links you are sent this week, because they could be to a site that causes your computer or smartphone to crash. While the glitch is affecting many users, not all users are affected which could be a result of users having search results cached locally.
Safari Suggestions presents users with a list of possible phrases as they type in the search bar, allowing users to choose one rather than continue typing.
