The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is shaping up for a grand release. Breath of the Wild requires more strategy than ever before. Because the world is so big, the more Shrines and towers you can unlock, the better. Of course, it’s tough to take 50-inch flat screens on the train with you.
“So, my copy of Zelda is “Out for Delivery”, but my Switch is still “Preparing for Shipment”, another user added”. Yeah, I said it. Rather than being cumbersome, it feels incredibly natural.
Where execs have previously fanned the flames of rivalry they’re now more likely to be complimentary, something we attribute primarily to the positive influence of Xbox boss Phil Spencer. How does the game compare when playing with your Switch docked versus playing the game in portable mode? I hope that Nintendo can stabilise this a little more with an update as it’s definitely not a good look and quite frankly a little bit concerning considering it’s a launch title. Critically, the Switch is very light. Some gamers are already finding out how to reform this partnership.

Being one of the first games to launch with the Switch, Breath of the Wild incorporates some of the console’s new hardware features – players get haptic feedback through the Joy-Con controllers. It takes a while to unlearn those habits.
“I was entranced by this version of Hyrule, and it surprised me at almost every turn, from its wealth of discoveries to the way it shuns the established tropes of previous Zelda games”, writes Game Informer’s Kyle Hilliard, who gave the game a 10/10 rating.
