The LG Watch Urbane 2 Is Now Discontinued
“Whether the device will be available in the future will be decided at a later time”, it continues. The LG watch is really appreciated and customers who own this device seem to love it. LG is sure to note, however, that the its second-gen Urbane was in no way a safety hazard to customers.
In a statement, LG told Android Police: “Late in the quality assurance process for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, our engineers were made aware of a hardware issue which affects the day-to-day functionality of the device”.
The company confirmed that the deterioration of the component would definitely have reduced image quality on the device.
LG added: “During aggressive testing over thousands of hours under severe conditions, it was revealed that this component failed to meet LG’s quality standards and could potentially impact our image quality over the life of the device”.
According to foreign media network, including an American information and technology news service provider The Verge, LG Electronics canceled the release of the Urbane 2 watch which was supplied through AT&T in the US from November 20. The device looks a bit similar to a classic timepiece. This smartwatch is an interesting wearable device, featuring three side buttons and a 480 by 480 resolution screen. “However, what we can share is that the hardware issue was related to a new advanced component that we had incorporated in the device that had never been used in an LG wearable device before”, the company said. It could be a problem if the user is out and has left their smartphone at home, in the office or somewhere else.
KitGuru Says: LG didn’t specify exactly what was wrong with its watch but if any of you happened to buy one, you may want to get that refunded.
Cellular connectivity meant that the smartwatch gained more standalone functions such as making and receiving calls and sending text messages.
Carriers AT&T and Verizon Wireless also hasn’t issued a statement as to what they plan to do now that the smartwatch has been shelved. Google also hasn’t released any announcement or blog post regarding the cancellation of the smartwatch.
