The Major Highlights of Grammys 2015!
The 57th Annual Grammy Awards was held at Los Angeles’s Staples Center on February 8, 2015, and was hosted by rapper LL Cool J. The event came alive with music stars and amazing performances.
Madonna’s matador-themed performance on her Living for Love music video was a spectacle to watch. Madge did an aerial act with backup dancers dressed as minotaurs. Annie Lennox joined Hozier for Take Me to Church followed by a magical rendition of I Put a Spell on You.
One of the most powerful moments came midway of the show when Brooke Axtell, a survivor of domestic violence, took to stage to introduce Katy Perry’s great performance of By the Grace of God. Brooke Axtell gave an emotional speech about her painful experience with an abusive partner. She gave her speech soon after a video from the President, Barack Obama for the White House’s campaign It’s On Us, which aims to raise awareness to end sexual assault against women.
Kanye West gave a powerhouse performance with Rihanna and Sir Paul McCartney on FourFiveSeconds, where the former Beatle played the guitar.
Kristen Wiig’s starring role in Sia’s fantastic performance of Chandelier was a highlight. Guest stars Kristen Wiig danced along 12 year old Maddie Ziegler in matching blonde wigs.
Beyonce closed the 2015 Grammys with a soulful rendition of the gospel song Take My Hand Precious Lord. Her song preceded the performance of Glory, the Oscar-nominated tune from the film Selma, by John Legend and Common.
Just 5 months after Joan Rivers’ untimely death, her daughter Melissa Rivers and grandson accepted a posthumous Grammy on her behalf for Best Spoken Word Album.
As for the winners, The Stay With Me singer Sam Smith won several awards including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Beck won the album of the year award beating Beyoncé.
