The Mummy reboot set for 2017, Tom Cruise confirmed
Initial reports suggest that the film would be set in contemporary times and that the Mummy antagonist might be female.
Universal have not confirmed the actor as a cast member but authoritative internet film library IMDb has listed him and Algerian actress Sofia Boutella, who featured in the 2014 film Kingsman: The secret service, as leading characters. Sean Daniel, who produced The Mummy trilogy starring Brendan Fraser, will co-produce with Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. The new film will be directed by Alex Kurtzman – a screenwriter, producer and director with a varied filmography that ranges across both film and TV.
Forbes shared that the reboot might make it an on-going series filled with action, horror, and fantasy that will supposedly be the same as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Comics movie world. The movie is set for release on June 9th 2017, and it’s set to introduce a collection of films that will bring Dracula, the Bride Of Frankenstein, Van Helsing and The Invisible Man back to our screens.
Characters from the monster universe films are expected to crop up in each other’s installments before culminating in an Avengers-style tie-in film.
The movie was originally planned for a March 24, 2017 release, so a few months later is not that much of a biggie…unless you’ve been counting the days, of course.
