The Muppets To Get a New Showrunner
There’s another change at the top of of a fall TV show. But Variety reports that co-showrunners Kushell and Prady were creatively clashing over the direction of the series, leaving Kushell to now bow out. Now, ratings are overall OK, but the network still considers them disappointing as “The Muppets has been held to a different standard”.
Currently, there is not a replacement being named, although there are rumors that producer Kristin Newman (Galavant) could be stepping in.
“The Muppets” series air every Tuesday nights at 8pm on ABC. He is limited mostly by schedule, as he also works in a similar capacity on “The Big Bang Theory” for CBS.
According to Deadline, the show’s probably going to take a hiatus after its tenth episode, and will later return with a six-episode retool.
Picked up straight to series based purely on a 10-minute pilot presentation, The Muppets revival is filmed documentary style and explores the personal lives behind the famed characters, including Fozzie, Gonzo and the rest of the gang in a bigger way than the franchise has ever done before. With the characters Miss Piggy and Kermit leading the pack in this new grown-up series, avid fans will see more of “The Muppets” on the small screen. The final six episodes of the season will kick off in the spring as somewhat of a reboot.
ABC last week ordered three more episodes of the ABC Studios comedy, bringing its first-season total to 16 episodes.
