The Nation Reporter Forcibly Ejected From Trump-Putin Joint Press Conference
President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday, and the two leaders held a unusual and stunning press conference at the conclusion of their summit.
While Trump was eager for a made-for-TV moment that will dominate headlines like his sit-down with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last month, Putin hopes the meeting, mere hours after he presided over the World Cup finals, will help him forge good personal ties with Trump and focus on areas where Moscow and Washington may be able to find common ground, such as Syria. “I don’t see any reason why it should be”, he replied. “We’ll let them think and make their proposals and suggestions in this regard”.
– Before the press conference started, the secret service removed an accredited journalist from The Nation who was protesting, holding a sign that read, “Nuclear Weapon Ban Treaty”.
“I hadn’t thought of that”, Trump said.
Trump said that while USA officials have shown him that Russian Federation interfered with election systems, Putin has said “it’s not Russia” who meddled.
– Trump said, “Putin was incredibly strong and powerful in his denial today”.
Former CIA director John Brennan tweeted the president’s press conference performance exceeded the threshold of “high crimes and misdemeanous”, calling his comments “imbecilic” and accusing him of being “wholly in the pocket of Putin”.
“In Episode Two of ‘Trump Bites…’ Mr. Trump’s not-so-secret admiration for President Vladimir Putin of Russian Federation plays out in a teenager’s bedroom, where the fantasies of this forbidden romance come to life”, reads the Times description.

“The problem with our media becoming a collective joke is that they have the ability to wreak tremendous havoc and do great damage, but these people are a laughingstock, and they do not know it”, he said Monday on “The Rush Limbaugh Show.”
Sen. Mike Lee directed his prepared statement at Putin, not Trump. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that Trump’s failure to hammer Putin was “thoughtless, dangerous, and weak”.
Putin proposed an “expert council” to improve relations between the countries.
Trump will meet with members of Congress on Tuesday, the White House said without giving further details.
“When the President plays these moral equivalence games, he gives Putin a propaganda win he desperately needs”.
Mr Putin added that other issues that Russian Federation would like to discuss in the arms control sphere are the U.S. missile defence plans and the weaponisation of space.
Putin spoke frankly on the topic of Crimea, saying that the U.S. delegation had expressed its view that the invasion was illegal.
Mr Trump, in opening remarks, said that US-Russia relations had been at their lowest point until the two sat down face-to-face in a highly-anticipated summit.
When asked directly on Monday if he held Russian Federation “accountable for anything”, Trump said he held “both countries responsible”, echoing language he used after hostilities broke out a year ago when white nationalists rallied in Virginia.
‘I think we hopefully can do something about that because it’s not a positive force, it’s a negative force’.
“We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy”, Coats said.
The closely-watched summit is not the first time the Russian and United States presidents have held talks.
The two leaders met and shook hands this afternoon in the Finnish capital as they headed into the private meeting.
