The National Park Service celebrates 100 years
National Parks Service, a section of the U.S. Department of the Interior that has had a long tradition of protecting some of the country’s most attractive landscapes.
Donated by Burt’s Bees co-founder Roxanne Quimby, the expanse features views of Mount Katahdin, the tallest mountain in Maine.
The National Park Service will present the park plans and future steps for the new park Friday at 9 a.m.at The Great Overland Station.
Thank goodness, 100 years ago, we had a Democratic president in office. He says visitors planning to join the celebration should stay updated on those fires since a major access road to the South Entrance is expected to remain closed through the weekend due to the blaze. Capt. Randall Peck said it’s important for his crew members to be familiar with the namesake park and know the resilience of the Ancestral Puebloan people who lived there.
There are 411 national parks and areas across our country.
Denali National Park centennial coordinator Lynn McAloon said the event was one of many held throughout the year, to mark the anniversary but also connect with the next generation of park users. Some visitors didn’t even realize one of the free spots is on Fisherman’s Wharf, the Maritime National Historical Park.
Admission fees are being waived at all 412 national parks starting Thursday through Sunday.
Sandoval was at the park at an official National Parks Centennial Celebration Thursday afternoon.
