The NFL says the Lions didn’t get screwed
“I came in this morning, watched during breakfast and I just saw an incredible throw, Hail Mary by Aaron Rodgers”.
The Packers (8-4) had lost four of five.
The throw was incredible that Packers coach Mike McCarthy called it the best one he’s ever seen. It was also a devastating loss for the Lions, who after a dismal start to the the season had won their last three. The Lions should without doubt blame themselves instead of just blaming the refs for that facemask call. “Those are the ones that eat at you”. Because that’s how the play is designed: not only does a high-angle pass give receivers more time to make it down the field, but ideally, it gives them time to get in position to bring it down. “It is never over in this league”. On the previous play, the Packers had tried a short pass followed by laterals.
“It’s a hard pill to swallow”.
Cal graduate and Ravens running back Justin Forsett just had to point that out.
On the next snap, Julius Peppers stripped the ball from Stafford and Jake Ryan recovered it for Green Bay at the Detroit 12.
The Goats: It’s hard to assign blame here; the game ended on one of those freak occurrences you really can’t script. We could call out DE Devin Taylor for committing the final penalty-one of nine on the evening for 108 yards total from Detroit-but that doesn’t feel quite right.
Carolina Panthers assistant defensive backs coach Richard “Rock” Rodgers can spot his son anywhere. “You want to get the ball into the end zone and you want to get people around it. However you orchestrate that, I mean you don’t want to throw it short and you don’t want to throw it out”, Belichick said.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers spikes the ball in the end zone after his rushing touchdown during the second half of an NFL football game against the Detroit Lions, Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, in Detroit.
So, being a Lions fan isn’t exactly easy, but Thursday night made it particularly hard.
And on the final play, Detroit’s three rushers did exactly what Rodgers wanted, flushing him to one side and giving him time. He planted his foot at about the Green Bay 36 and got it into the end zone, where his tight end found a way to get to it in front of a slew of players from both teams and leaped for the catch.
Taylor took a diplomatic stance after the game, refusing to call out the referees, but said he didn’t believe he touched Rodgers’ face mask.
He has now much to Caldwell’s chagrin.
The Detroit Lions closed in on Aaron Rodgers, and there was nobody nearby he could lateral to.
A quick synopsis- after a Lions punt, the Packers had the ball with 23 seconds to go from their own 21.
After the break, Prater added to the lead with a 34-yard field goal.
