The past won’t help the future
This is Jim McElwain’s first SEC road game as a head coach, and his team underwhelmed last week against East Carolina.
That’s the position the 2-0 Cats find themselves in this week. Fans should be very optimistic and excited after Saturday’s win over South Carolina.
This was a game in the past that Kentucky would have lost, but now, with Stoops’ mantra and a new attitude securely in place, the Wildcats found a way to hold on and they did it with an exclamation point. But, the important thing is that we make more than them. “It’s just a matter of attention to detail”. The guys made plays when the game is on the line.
Is that a concern with Florida this time around?
“To be honest with you, I think it’s just a product of everybody relaxing, not panicking”, Dawson said. The narrative points toward the end of a 28-game win streak for the Gators, but reality doesn’t always fit into a nice headline.
“It happened so quick that I didn’t know if he was in and then I saw the ball on the ground”, said Stoops, “I was watching our guys, hoping to peel back and make sure he got it in”. “Somebody asked me if I’m going to touch on it, or rant and rave, there’s nothing to talk about on that”.
Kentucky came close to ending the Gators’ dominance a year ago in Gainesville before the hosts escaped with a 36-30 victory in triple overtime. “We’re never going too big for our moment”. Things then took on an even more jovial tone when coach Mark Stoops started to sway to the beat in celebration of the win. We win the games throughout the week.
It was a bad combination of factors that slowed the United Kingdom attack, and I can forgive all of them. His ability to spring long runs is vital and a big cog for this offense. “They have some real dynamic playmakers in (Demarcus) Robinson, the wide receiver and (Kelvin) Taylor, the running back”. We didn’t play a complete mismatch the first game and we didn’t play one Saturday. Williams is the clear No. 1, but Kentucky feels good enough about backups Jojo Kemp and Mikel Horton to keep all three players involved. “I probably should have been a little more conservative there”. Afterward Stoops and his coaches exchanged high-fives and hugs in the runway of the tunnel near the media room at Williams-Brice Stadium.
