The Philadelphia 76ers Release Amazing Video Tribute To Kobe Bryant
After a lengthy introduction in Bryant’s final pro game in Philadelphia, there was a lengthy ovation and chants of “Ko-be, Ko-be”. John Wall scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, but Kobe put the finishing touches with five points in the final minute of the game to put the Wizards away for good.
He had some fun with the media after the loss.
“I’m pleased for the city”, Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said.
“They got me”, a clearly moved Bryant said in a tan colored suit and black tie (on TWC SportsNet).
Down the stretch, the fans in DC witnessed vintage Kobe, as the 37-year-old hit two clutch buckets, a three-pointer to give the Lakers a two-point lead and another jumper to untie the game with 30 seconds remaining, to seal the game.
The Sixers play the second game of a back-to-back on Wednesday night when they take a short trip up the New Jersey Turnpike to face the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Bryant, who will end his 20-year career this season, opened the first leg of his farewell tour in his hometown and was feted with the kind of reverence and gratitude normally reserved for a Sixers great. Following the game the Sixers head home for two games in a row for the first time since November 16 and 18. It was emotional for me, and I deeply appreciate beyond belief.
Bryant’s fifth shot turned out to be an air-ball, but that hardly seemed to matter at that point.
Jerami Grant and Nerlens Noel added 14 points apiece, while rookie Jahlil Okafor was one of three Philadelphia players to finish with 12 points.
Congratulations Philly fans, you are officially off the schnide…
