The presidential campaign: Hillary Clinton
Intensifying the verbal tirade on Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has targeted her husband and former President Bill Clinton dubbing him as the “greatest woman abuser of all time”.
“Donald Trump says your past is fair game”, Vega said bluntly.
“A lot of people in New Hampshire remember the really good economic times under President Clinton, he is very positive about his wife’s candidacy and I think he is the best surrogate the campaign has got”, said Demers.
The former president appeared to be embarrassed and at a loss for words – as if he was caught off guard. “I think there’s always attempts to take the election away from people, so I’m just going to give it to them”.
Trump will lead the crowd in chants of “U-S-A”, wave at protesters as they exit, and occasionally tell security to “get them out of here” as his audience roars in approval.
He was in New Hampshire stumping for his wife, while she was crossing Iowa at public appearances.
Most recently, while on the campaign trail at a rally in Derry, New Hampshire, Clinton shut down a heckler who breached the matter, CNN reported.
Unlike during the 2008 presidential campaign, when Clinton at times attacked Barack Obama in defense of his wife’s campaign, he kept his temper in check.
“They have to choose a nominee and we have a primary to win”, he said, the AP reported. While some have argued that her husband’s behavior should not affect her chances of winning office, others speculate that Bill Clinton’s past matters for his wife’s political future.
Prudhomme-O’Brien said Clinton’s decision not to respond to her questions and “sweep the issue under the rug” is bad for women across the country.
In 1998, the House voted to impeach, or formally accuse, then-President Clinton of perjury and obstruction. “It was in New Hampshire in 1992 that allegations of an affair by Gennifer Flowers almost tanked Clinton’s first presidential bid”.
Clinton has said that her New Year’s resolution is to steer clear of commenting on Trump.
The former president spoke calmly and quietly in New Hampshire, methodically describing the issues he sees as motivating voters in the next election.
“I think you know I don’t fit anymore”, he said.
