The Recruiting Guy Hogs land transfer QB Town
The race for Ricky Town is on.
That competition isn’t deterring former USC quarterback Ricky Town, who is officially a Razorback as of today.
The Gators were mentioned as a potential option for Town because of his relationship with current Florida offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
Town was rated the No. 6 overall pro style quarterback in the country by 247Sports for the 2015 class and was even rated a 5-star by other recruiting outlets.
For a young man like Ricky who grew up as an USC fan, it appears from the outside looking in as if he didn’t give himself a chance to live out that part of his dream… “We are very excited to have him join our program”.
Maybe Town’s odds of winning a starting job next year are better than they were vs. Browne in Los Angeles, but the depth chart is still too crowded to say anything’s guaranteed.
In talking with ESPN, Town claimed that he hit it off with Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema, fell in love with Fayetteville, and immediately gravitated to Arkansas’ complex pro-style offense. Town had actually been committed to Alabama before ultimately signing with the Trojans. Not just simple reads.
That means Arkansas will have junior Austin Allen, sophomore Rafe Peavey, redshirt freshmen Storey and Town, and true freshman Cole Kelley on campus when Brandon Allen leaves after this season, as of right now, anyway. He also boasts a strong arm that will help him beat cornerbacks in single coverage once he eventually sees the field.
