The Republican debate completely dismissed a Bernie presidency
McLean said if Sanders pulls off a win in either Iowa or New Hampshire next month, the race could go all the way to the Democratic National Convention in July. In New Hampshire, Sanders holds a commanding lead, 53 percent to 39 percent, according to a Monmouth University poll released this week. Given her time in the State Department and the dozens of countries she visited during her tenure there, Clinton has become an expert dozer.
“Bernie Sanders had the courage to stand up against the Keystone pipeline from day one”. Hillary called Bill her “not-so-secret weapon” when announcing the move, though his increased involvement created an opening for Republicans, especially Trump, to bring up allegations of sexual misconduct that dogged the Clintons in the 1990s.
For example, it took until February of 2008 for polling to reflect the fact that Obama was the more electable of the two candidates. 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney defeated President Obama among older voters. With the Republican nomination contest lurching so far to the right, many Democrats are anxious to nominate a candidate that will ensure their party keeps the White House this November. This is exemplified by ringing endorsements from such progressive establishments as the Nation and MoveOn.org, and now, some would argue, Sanders has made the transition from a movement leader to a presidential leader.
Hillary Clinton is locked in a tight battle with U.S. Sen.
Among women, 56 percent said it did not matter, while another 21 percent said it would hurt Hillary Clinton’s chances of winning the election. The second vision, of course, is Sanders’ plan to break up big banks, close tax loopholes and make the wealthy “pay their fair share”.
“It was a little bit shocking the Clinton campaign seems to see itself in that first characterization”, he explained at a campaign stop at Dartmouth College, “So that’s not something where we put them, but they put themselves there”. It will feature Clinton and Sanders as well as former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. The RealClearPolitics average of New Hampshire polls has Sanders ahead by 6 points – and in Iowa, the candidates are tied in the RCP average, which Clinton led for months.
The Fox News poll had similar findings for a match-up between Clinton and Rubio. Jimmy asked Hillary if Trump intimidated her. She said no, and said if she ends up running against Trump it will be quite the showdown. He’s only at 2.3 percent in the Real Clear Politics “poll of polls” averaging of national surveys. Both Clinton and Republican front-rummer Donald Trump garner negative favorability ratings.
The next Democratic debate is on Sunday, January 17, at 9 pm Eastern. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sanders said consistency on issues “does speak to the character of a person”, a comment that irked many in the Clinton campaign as Sanders questioning their candidate’s character.
Clinton and her aides have changed their strategy to deal with Sanders and recently begun drawing direct contrasts between her and him on issues important to Democrats, including health care and gun control policy.
