The riddle of 49ers’ Kaepernick solved by Green Bay Packers
He initially injured the ankle against Seattle on September 20, returned to play in the second half of that game, then started on September 28 against Kansas City but lasted only three plays before exiting. Literally, one bad game could impact my entire Monday, if not my entire week. So when they didn’t…
The 49ers defense, which had been labeled too complicated for its own good only two weeks earlier in Pittsburgh, suddenly looked good in disguises. Every coach thinks about pinch-hitting a slumping quarterback – his future employment is attached to that decision – especially when the question will dominate the airwaves for a full week before Sunday’s trip to New York. And without hope, it’s hard to feel disappointment.
While I tend to shy away from big chalk in National Football League games, this line is spot on.
In the third, Green Bay capitalized shortly after San Francisco’s Reggie Bush was stuffed for no gain trying to go up the middle on third-and-11 in a play call that was immediately scrutinized. Another upcoming road foe, Minnesota, is 2-1 and appears to be the strongest challenger to the Packers’ four-year run atop the NFC North. The 49ers have won 4 straight games against the Packers including a couple of playoff wins.
Jimmy Johnson has his god points, one supposes: he did coach two Super Bowl-winning teams, have a successful college career, and look more at home in a Hawaiian shirt than any man has a right to, including Don Ho and Tom Selleck.
-RUN DEFENSE: C-plus. The Packers didn’t dominate the 49ers on the ground, but they were able to use their running game to earn a 37-23 dominance in time of possession. No seriously: can ANYONE tell me what the game plan was yesterday? “To me, you ve got to go through them”. The 49ers quarterback was sacked six times, could not produce a touchdown drive and threw multiple passes into the dirt or out of bounds. Also, no offense to Kap, but throwing the ball isn’t something he’s actually doing very well these days. The answer wasn’t any different.
“Clay’s a big-time playmaker…it’s about creating opportunities for him to be in position to make plays”, added the coach. San Francisco just couldn’t force a key turnover to get off the field fast enough.
Green Bay’s defense gets a boost with the return of Letroy Guion from his three-game suspension, as well. We’re in this together.
Blaine Gabbert is the only other option the 49ers can realistically go with. I’m trying to be smart more than anything. “Still embarrassed about how we’ve been playing offensively”.
“We’re an offense that can run the ball and throw the ball”, 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith said. Wilson is still on top, while we don’t know where Kaepernick is headed. “He s still the same old guy”. “I think there’s a little frustration there, but not fractured at all”. Or that he even necessarily wants to do so.
In Week 3, Rodgers tossed his three touchdowns to Cobb all on quick outs much like this one, via Aaron Nagler of Cheesehead TV.
On a few of those plays does it seem like you’re covering those guys forever? But I was definitely frustrated because we’re a better team than what we’re showing right now. Because there is literally no end in sight… And that, my friends, is why the demise of the Niners is even more bleak than we want to admit. The only solution? To just stop caring.
