The Rubens To Battle With Dr Dre For #1 In ARIA Charts
Speaking during a live YouTube chat about the film on Tuesday (August 11), Dre explained that the album’s creation was an impromptu decision. “I just wasn’t feeling it”.
“Straight Outta Compton” is also the title of N.W.A.’s debut album, and was the basis for a fun tool created by the movie’s promotional team. But “Compton” is his biggest yet, even if he didn’t get to be in the studio while his beat was being incorporated into the song. Local social media users weren’t any different.
Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr Dre offers a wistful look at the now 50-year-old’s upbringing in the Los Angeles County city, long synonymous with gang violence. “And it came out exactly the way I wanted”. “When I picked up the pen I was in character as Dr. Dre”.
In short, there is no more appropriate source of funding for a new facility meant to serve as a haven and source of creative inspiration for Compton’s youth.
He also taps younger artists, including the relatively unknown LA rapper Anderson.Paak, British soul singer Marsha Ambrosius and especially 28-year-old hip-hop sensation Kendrick Lamar, who also hails from Compton. We started writing and Dre finished his verse. (MC Ren and DJ Yella, played by Aldis Hodge and Neil Brown Jr., are mostly relegated to the background, though Brown runs off with a few well-timed laugh lines.) The opening scenes unfold in maddeningly boilerplate fashion; when Dre, pulled from his headphone-assisted daydreams atop a pile of carefully arranged LP covers, is chewed out by his mother with such well-worn clichés as, “I work my ass off and I refuse to let you throw it all away”, you can set your watch to her stern slap across his face.
Compton marks a wider musical exploration for Dr Dre beyond the turntable-driven hip-hop early in his career.
The “Black Godfather” album is going to be one of my rare few albums that I can really concentrate on being an artist and focus on my lyrics and not have to worry about producing the album, as I’m only producing 5 out the 16 records that will be on the album, and I don’t have to worry about the business end of the project as well.
“I wish I was, that definitely would have completed the dream”, he said with a laugh. “I can make you legit”, he assures Eazy, and indeed he does, while taking what seems an increasingly disproportionate piece of the pie for himself. I’m pretty sure Dre is just showing off on “Medicine Man” which contains an elaborate cacophony of synths, strings, sounds effects, and keys. “And the fact that I did that, that I’m in a good spot, makes me happy”.
