The Salvation Army Begins Holiday Angel Tree Program
The Salvation Army Archer City Unit will once again be assuring underprivileged children of Archer City Christmas gifts through the local Angel Tree program.
Bluewater general manager Robert Goodman added: “It is a real honour to host the giving tree at Bluewater over the festive period, the appeal is one that encapsulates the true meaning of Christmas”. Last year, The Angel Tree Program assisted over 9,000 families and 20,000 children in our community providing gifts, or new clothes and coats during the holiday season.
This year there is a need for presents for teenagers.
The charity’s West Auckland church pastor Stu Tong says stress can be a big factor at Christmas and donations of gifts can help families with other expenses later.

Children who receive Angel Tree gifts are from families who have applied for Christmas assistance through the Social Services program of The Salvation Army.
The Wishing Tree Appeal was launched on November 19 at Kmart in Henderson.
People are asked to place an unwrapped gift with a gift tag, showing the gender and age of the recipient at the Henderson Kmart store. By adopting an Angle Tree Tag, purchasing the item on the tag and then returning it to the tree site, the wish of a local child will be granted.
Alternatively collect a bauble from the Wishing Tree and scan it at checkout to make a monetary contribution. That’s it! You’ve now officially supported the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal.
