The Simpsons’ Duff Beer To Be Sold In Real Stores
When describing the taste of the brew, Godsick said, “It’s got a hint of fruit to it. It’s got a caramel aromatic to it”.
The town of Springfield and The Simpsons’ will no longer be the only ones who will get to drink Duff Beer. Fox will first introduce the beer in Chile, and plans to bring it to the rest of South America and Europe by next year.
The iconic brew became synonymous with The Simpsons as Homer was often shown knocking back the beer in his favorite bar, Moe’s Tavern.
A Chilean professor explained to WSJ that this is a case where “Fox has been essentially forced into the beer business by intellectual property laws that don’t generally protect fictional products”, which is a pretty hilarious start for the official Duff Beer Co.
Multiple reports confirm that the first target market for Duff Beer will be Chile, primarily to fight against the high number of unauthorized versions that seem to keep resurfacing throughout the country.
Unfortunately for American Duff Beer fans, assuming they exist in the real world, the brand will only launch in Chile initially, where illegal copies of Duff Beer have already taken the market by storm. Instead it will faithfully mimic the bottles and cans seen in the show.
Duff will not be available in the United States, outside of select sections of certain theme parks, but that may change in the future. As of right now, there are no confirmed plans of Duff Beer making it to the U.S.at all.
The Simpsons is the longest-running scripted series in TV history, on air for 26 years, and Fox executives claim that an episode is airing “somewhere in the world, at all times, day or night, 365 days a year”.
