The Spice Girls have renamed themselves and say the reunion IS happening
Mel Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Geri Horner (Ginger Spice) will henceforth be known as GEM, a moniker linked to their initials. Mel B then adds “We wanna celebrate and have a party and when we do…”, before the pair, who are joined by Emma Bunton add “you’re all invited!”.
Despite these two gaping holes in the newly formed GEM-all Spice Girls reunion news is what fans want (what they really, really want).
Melanie, who is sat alongside her fellow bandmates in a bed, then says: “And we want to celebrate and have a party”.
Victoria Beckham has previously ruled herself out of a reunion, while Melanie Chisholm has said she is now focusing on her solo album.
The girls shared a video on YouTube to honour the 20th anniversary of the release of the group’s breakthrough song Wannabe and announced to the world that they have a very special plan lined up.
Are you excited about this Spice Girls news? The five group members gave a lively performance at the closing ceremony of the 2012 summer Olympics in London.
However, Sporty Spice (aka Mel C) teased yesterday that she still could be involved in some way, telling The Sun: “I am keeping tight-lipped”. Although, as much as we want to see Posh return to the group where she gained her fame, rumors of her lip-syncing days are still pretty fresh.
Well, three members of the band – Mel B, Geri and Emma – are marking the occasion with an announcement that will be music to the ears’ of the band’s hardcore fans.
Mel C still showed her support for Spice Girls though with a witty Twitter message and a throwback shot of them. “There are lots of discussions going on”.
The video’s director, MJ Delaney, says they wanted to create a video about “modern day girl power,” while also “showing there are some universal things that all girls, everywhere, really, really want”. “I’m taking it slowly”.
