The Strain “Fallen Light” Season 2 Episode 12
Abraham has a deal already with Quinlan to hand over the Lumen once Abraham has it. Quinlan isn’t taking any chances though and gives Gus a tough order: Kill Abraham if he doesn’t give him the Lumen.
Flashbacks have become a staple on The Strain nearly as much as they were on Lost during its iconic run on television a few years back. Based on Guillermo Del Toro’s bestselling novels, published by Dark Horse Comics, in Episode 12, are Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) trapped in their own Fallen Light?
In another flashback, Jim, Eph, and Nora drink wine and chat until Jim gets far too drunk and needs to be taken home by his wife.
We also saw Jim return (Sean Astin), which was a nice moment, although he knew from the moment that Eph hired Nora that a part of him did it because she was an attractive distraction from his failing marriage. When Nora wasn’t the ideal mate anymore, he found Lee. At the same time, Eph’s relationship with Nora is yet to face another critical impasse. They end up in a prison and discover a guard locked in a cell. Gus orders everybody aboard his bus and a new army has been formed. Even though Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand), Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) chooses to leave him and be with Niki. He wonders why she’s even asking that question. That’s right, Dutch tells Fet that she has chosen Nikki.
Another prominent story in “Fallen Light” is Dutch’s complicated emotions, and any scene that involves this features her crying, unable to make a decision.
She kisses Fet one last time and Dutch is gone. Because Dutch can only make awful life choices, Nikki is leaving to live with her mother.
Later on, Dutch goes to see Nikki and to her surprise, Nikki and Nikki’s mom are packing to leave. In the present, Eph tells Nora that he is sorry for cheating on her in D.C. and that he loves her, but she shrugs him off, heartbroken.
When Eph and Nora arrive at Justine’s office, they have to squeeze their way through a group of angry protesters that are demanding her resignation.
Justine discovers that the Mayor has been murdered.
The mayor and Justine get into a big fight, which leads to the former being thrown out of her office. “You don’t make it easy”, she tells him.
A phone call comes in for Nora at the hideout that she’s been waiting to hear about for days.
Kelly’s parents are alive!!!
Eph is resilient of course, because even if the best parenting tip is not to keep your kid in the middle of a vampire apocalypse when he has perfectly safe and healthy family hundreds of miles away, he still has fought so hard partially to be with his son. In the present, Eph apologizes and tells Nora he still loves her. She later agrees with Eph and Nora to distribute their bio-weapon and to help them get Zach out of the city. He ends up offering her a job afterwards.
Later, Fet and Setrakian (David Bradley) go to Creem – the dealer now in control of the Occido Lumen – with the goods that Setrakian had promised. Unfortunately, Alonso isn’t willing to give up the book because he’s making money off of the vampire war.
Setrakian leaves and goes to visit Quinlan, who speaks for the Ancients in these business matters. Setrakian plans to outbid Eldrich Palmer with a little help from the ancients and their deep pockets. They prove themselves more than capable soldiers as they dispatch of the monsters, and Angel proves his loyalty to Gus when he shows no hesitation in shooting down one of the criminals, who attempts to off Gus and steal the guns. He just wants to find a way to kill the Master while still staying alive himself. Palmer threatens to pull funding while his lady love Coco says that Eichorst is just trying to bully his way into a position of power. They both get inside the vehicle of Mr. Quinlan’s associate. Palmer discovers that he and Coco will die if The Master doesn’t provide his white blood to them.
At that moment, Palmer realizes that he’s no partner and he’s certainly not equal to the Master.
It appears next week for the season finale of The Strain season two that Setrakian and Eichorst are headed for a showdown with the victor possessing the rare Occido Lumen and the future of the vampire war hangs in the balance.
