The UK is the first European country to get Twitter Moments
However, the service will likely target new users who don’t yet understand the point of Twitter or how it works. Twitter says its aim is to represent conversation in as diverse a way as possible.
Just as in the U.S., the United Kingdom version of Moments appears when a user clicks the lightning bolt tab in Twitter.
“And while a single moment is a temporary follow, it’s a great way to find out about fellow users you might not normally connect with”.
If you’re in the United Kingdom, you will get content tailored specifically for your location, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get stories from elsewhere such as the US. “You probably won’t get baseball, you might get a bit of (Donald) Trump – but who can resist?” Everything you see in this section has been curated by a dedicated editorial team made up of former… According to Geary, the team all have journalism backgrounds. So, for instance, on launch day there was a story for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere.
Already established in the US, Twitter Moments presents trends and news events in a content-rich fashion, that you can see without hundreds of other tweets and scan through quickly. In the first case, we had the infamous Leytonstone Tube station clip, as well as a bit of reaction, while the second took us to tweets and pictures from actors and guests, as well as a view of the crowd.
When a user has access to Moments, a new icon appears on the Twitter home page, to the right of the Home button in the top-left corner. UK users can follow the latest on the royal family, global pop star Adele and the Manchester United football club without scrolling through the barrage of miscellaneous tweets in their regular feed.
What kind of stories will I see on there? The Twitter feature arrived in Britain on Tuesday.
“Previously you may have felt you could only keep up by following thousands of accounts; with Moments, we do that for you”, Twitter UK executive Johanna Geary said in a blog post. Twitter told TrustedReviews that it should be available to everyone in the country by the end of the day.
Twitter’s offices in London have also been prioritizing building momentum around Moments.
