‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 9 reaction: Show boss on Stefan
“The episode was really about Damon, but that’s not why I think it was the best at all”.
#BONORA? | Before Nora chose to go all stab-y on Stefan, the newly single heretic was busy working her magic on a reluctant Bonnie Bennett.
Mary-Louise is angry that Nora has left her and blames all of the Heretics’ troubles on Valerie.
We’ve also ruled out some of the suspects for which woman was chasing Stefan and Damon at the beginning of the season in the flash forward. With emotions heightened already because they are vampires, the idea of a moody, pregnant vampire should be downright terrifying. Luckily, Damon improvises a quick exit thanks to the combination of vervain grenades and the booze-soaked Santa costumes of those poor dead people. He confronts Damon about his actions and tells Damon that he has another chance to make it right by helping him kill Julian. He has Stefan’s body and appears to plan on torching it.
Clearly, the crew will come together and find a way to release the brothers from their hellish prison, but it’s going to be quite a long wait until we find out how. On a related note, if you didn’t well up when she said, “I just realized this is going to be my first Christmas without you”, you’re even more of an emotional ostrich than Damon. Candice King does a handsome job with this scene and it is easily the highlight of the episode.
By creating his own vampire army and using them to set a trap for the Salvatore brothers, Julian would be able to use the chaos as a distraction and escape. Even without any backup, Julian once again bests both brothers. Julian and Nora were both looking for her but could a third party have made off with Nora’s ex?
It looks like they’ll get Stefan back, but Damon will certainly start to go mad thanks to being locked away in the prison world of the phoenix stone sword as he harms Caroline. By the time we get to end of February, we’ll have our answers. When Stefan gets the grand idea to kidnap Mary Louise in order to lure Julian back to town so he can kill him, something else happens instead: Julian comes back to town, finds an oblivious Damon, and sticks the phoenix stone sword in his heart.
The only upside to Damon’s little journey is that, as Julian pointed out, we might get to see Lily – albeit a twisted, haunt-y hell version of Lily – one last time.
