The Vampire Diaries sends Damon on yet another downward spiral
When asked whether Nina Dobrev will return in time for “The Vampire Diaries” season 7 finale, the executive producer explained what she would do. His brother Stefan (Paul Wesley) will try to get the root of his problem, but he will be confounded with his brother’s reason for his descent. We guess that’s what happens when you start hanging out with Julian (Todd Lasance) at his vampire fight clubs. However, Damon was still somewhat off the rails and an attempt by Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Henry (Evan Gamble) to stop him did not go well.
Totally distraught over what he did to Elena last week, Damon set out to punish himself.
Stefan, meanwhile, was finally sick and exhausted of Julian, blaming him for sending Damon into The Phoenix Stone and teaming with Valerie on a cloaking spell. “Caroline begins having some risky side effects as a result of her supernatural pregnancy and is forced to turn to Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore) for help”, the synopsis reveals.
While he may have mixed feelings about the Gemini Coven choosing Caroline to be the surrogate before they died at Kai’s hands last season, Stefan attempted to cheer his pregnant girlfriend up by bringing her curly fries as a way to help ease her cravings.
The episode pulls this off because it leans on the show’s most important relationship to make it land: The brother bond between Damon and Stefan. Stefan is devastated and lashes out at his brother, punching him repeatedly and stalking off. The latter’s influence on the protagonist just makes the situation even more complicated.
Bonnie, Mary-Louise and Nora tracked The Huntress to a mental institute in OH after receiving postcards with an X on them, the signal that she was coming after all who had been stabbed with her sword. Rayna (Leslie-Anne Huff), the ruthless vampire hunter is also speculated to be back and Bonnie (Kat Graham), Nora (Scarlett Bryne) and Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) will try to hunt her down.
In The Vampire Diaries, season 7, episode 13, “Postcards from the Edge”, we finally came face to face with the elusive huntress in present day.
But she clearly becomes UNstuck at some point because we ended the episode by flashing three years into the future and getting a look at her at the news station building, holding both Stefan and Damon hostage.
