‘The Voice’ singer Christina Grimmie dies after shooting
“Voice” singer Christina Grimmie was fatally shot by a 21-year-old white male – armed with two guns and a knife – who had traveled to Orlando from another city in Florida with the intention of killing her, police said Saturday.
The gunman who shot and killed a singer who rose to fame after appearing on “The Voice” traveled to Orlando specifically to attack her, authorities said Saturday. Grimmie’s brother tackled the shooter, who then shot and killed himself.
Mina, who did not name the gunman, said investigators were going through the man’s phone and other belongings to see if they can find information about a motive.
Her YouTube videos, including cover versions of songs including Adele’s Hello and Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean, have since gained millions of views.
The suspect in this case is not from Orlando. “We lost a lovely soul w/ an wonderful voice”, the NBC talent show wrote on Twitter. “We’ve been best friends ever since”. “You would never forget meeting her”, Carson said, according to the AP.
“All I wanted to do was assist her in achieving her musical dreams while protecting her from the pitfalls associated with the business”. There’s no evidence Grimmie and Loibl knew each other, police said. “She loved the Lord and her family and was always there for me and I honestly don’t know what I’ll do without her”.
One of her friends and mentors was singer Selena Gomez, who tweeted: “My heart is absolutely broken”.
Orlando police officials said at a conference the singer was shot around 10:45pm on Friday.
“Deepest sorrow for lost (sic) to the family, friends & fans of the very talented, loving Christina Grimmie”.
“She was doing a meet-and-greet, just signing autographs and selling merchandise”.
The Plaza Live posted on its Facebook page that it would be closed until further notice due to the shooting.
Fans took to social media to express their sorrow, with the hashtag #RIPChristina trending on Twitter. She took third place in the competition. Her mass following exploded when she competed on season six of NBC’s “The Voice” and captivated the four judges and audience with her voice. “We lost a handsome soul with an wonderful voice”.
“I want to put as much stuff and content I can with her out there so people can just remember her of who she was and not just somebody on television or YouTube”, she said.
