The Voice UK: Boy George branded the show ‘pointless’
It seems that the 54-year-old Culture Club frontman hasn’t always been a fan of the BBC’s talent competition – despite accepting a job on the brand new judging panel.
Boy George slammed The Voice UK as “pointless” before he joined the show this year as a coach. It’s drama!’
George then joked in response: “Well, I am paying for it!”
Clearly not impressed with the remark, the star hit back: “Yeah, consider yourself judged and blocked!”
Another posted, ‘Couldn’t agree more, all contestants are pre-known & they’re using genuine artists to (try and) give the program credibility…’, to which Boy George answered, ‘And they all have stuff to promote!’
A source told The Sun: “This was obviously banter”.
Back in 2013, a rather annoyed Boy George took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the entertainment programme very clear.
“I’m a huge fan of the show and have watched and engaged with it from series one”.
Daily Star Online has contacted a representative for Boy George for comment.
When word came down last week that Boy George would be replacing Tom Jones on The Voice UK, there was no discussion on why the change was made; however, Jones has used social media to express his disappointment in how everything went down.
‘There was never even a hint that any member of the staff, or indeed the production executives, were unsatisfied, unhappy or disgruntled’.
The Voice auditions will begin later in the autumn, with the new series returning to screens in January 2016.
While I’m a fan of the other judges will.i.am and Ricky Wilson and love Paloma Faith, without Sir Tom The Voice will definitely be missing something special.
