‘The Walk’ Gets a Vertigo-Inducing IMAX Trailer Featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt
You have to see it to believe it. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley, Charlotte Le Bon and James Badge Dale. “Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy, and aided by an unlikely band of worldwide recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan”.
If you haven’t heard of Phillippe Petit before, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s portrayal of the famed tightrope walker in The Walk will have you googling him excitedly. Given the actor, director, and high-profile subject matter buzz around the film is pretty strong, so it’s getting top billing at the upcoming New York Film Festival, premiering the event’s opening night.
The Walk is yet another feather in Zemeckis’ cap, as the director is well-known for hit movies such as Cast Away, Forrest Gump, What Lies Beneath, Death Becomes Her and the Back to the Future series. With innovative photorealistic techniques and IMAX 3D wizardry, The Walk is true big-screen cinema, a chance for moviegoers to viscerally experience the feeling of reaching the clouds.
Petit pulled a coup of sorts in 1974 by shooting a wire between the newly constructed Twin Towers of New York and walking on them for about 45 minutes.
