‘The Walking Dead’ adds love among the gore, Twitterverse explodes
But what is next for one-eyed Carl?
That’s all a shrewd bit of misdirection. Even though the details for episode 11 remain vague, some solid details are expected after episode 10 is aired on February 21. If you recall the midseason premiere “No Way Out” was full of drama and action for our heroes and everyone at the Alexandria safe zone. Specifically, some sort of campy buddy comedy starring Rick and Daryl. Thankfully, this episode featured the two of them on a supply run front and center, and it was 1 million percent wonderful. Go ahead! Do whatever you want with them, I really do not care. Still seems unlikely. And the much bigger head-scratcher: Why, after he’s hit the supply-truck jackpot, does Rick say “let’s see what we can see” and cruise around? Don’t you think so?
They realize the guy stole Rick’s keys when he bumped into him.
While not exactly mystical, this Jesus does seem to have a few magic tricks – maybe he worked Atlantic City before the world ended – and he manages to steal the truck with a little misdirection and pickpocketing. It’s a place we’ve needed to get to for awhile, the change the dynamic and keep propelling the show forward. Carl is leading this particular walker toward them for some reason. Daryl corners him in the truck as a walker approaches behind Daryl. Who knew, for example, that a pack of Life Savers can make for a great aphrodisiac? But it’s just a very, very specific thing, and Tom crushed it. We’re going with the former. Daryl replies, “Yep. Do it again tomorrow?”
Meanwhile, back at town, a poignant storyline plays out in the woods.
Spencer asks why she’s out there. Far-fetched? Sure. But it’s an excuse to thread a family theme throughout the episode. “This is done”, Rick says, as they point their guns at him, forcing him to give in. Spencer kills her and finds closure. This causes the group to redirect their mission to getting to the infirmary.
It’s obvious that something is brewing. They are all connected, Rick and Daryl and Glenn and Maggie and Tara and Michonne and all of them.
But in all seriousness, many fans likely stopped (or didn’t) themselves from shouting “FINALLY” at the TV as Rick and Michonne once and for all leaned in for the kiss. Then they are MAKING. OUT. No, I’m beat. Chat about yours? But by putting Rick and Daryl in a relaxed situation – which still fit into the apocalypse survival of it all by having them bond during a supply run – both of them really popped and came alive.
Fade out and then fade back in: Some time has passed. To them, that probably feels like a year.
Frankly, he can’t come quickly enough, because otherwise the show will just meander around in ever decreasing circles. Isn’t that always the way with love?
Okay, then what’s up with Jesus’ awful timing? But it’s also very nice to see Michonne get someone of her own. We are left with unanswered questions. And as the core group around Rick has contracted and expanded, the definition of family has changed. On their way home, Daryl stopped to get some of that “pop” and the two ran into a lone survivor. He tells them that they need to talk.
Richonne has finally happened and shippers rejoice as Rick and Michonne finally make their relationship a reality on tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead!
