The Walking Dead: Cast and Crew Talk Season Six Premiere
The Walking Dead fans are always a little demanding.
Nerdist senior editor Dan Casey moderated the panel.
The creator of the Emmy-award winning TV series also spilled that Morgan (Lennie James) will also play a crucial role in the succeeding events. “Most intense season of TWD yet”. But he managed to take time out of his ridiculously busy schedule to speak to audiences at New York Comic Con on Thursday. For example, when asked by the moderator who will die in Season 6 and how, Kirkman responded, without hesitation, an answer created to rile up the crowd. “I would say decapitation, but that’s not all of it. Norman [Reedus] is a jerk”. [He’s just kidding, everyone!]. So bandwidth-wise, I don’t think it seems inevitable but you never know. And who is it? He also added jokingly that he’d love Ed O’Neill for the role. Will it be Maggie? That’s Alexandria, of course, where Rick and his group came in and shook things up a year ago. “A lot of cool stuff with Maggie is happening season”. “I’m watching cuts and I go, ‘I gotta watch the next one!’ I just hope that’s how everyone else feels”.
When asked whether we might see more companion shows set on other continents like Europe or Asia, Kirkman demurred, “If I did [know of plans for that], I certainly couldn’t say that here”, he teased. Season 2, apparently, will take the zombie drama to the high seas.
“It’s pretty bad”, Kirkman said sarcastically.
There’s definitely a few water action coming up. “It will be a seafaring adventure”. That’s a quick flip… talking of which…
“I’m from Zimbabwe”, actress Danai Gurira said. I guess it is a mistake a lot of shows have made in the past. Issue 144, Kirkman clarifed.
That’s how it went, with Kirkman batting away spoilers with jokes. “They’re dealing with the threats from all these different tribal factions that are trying to kill them”. “Fear the huntress”, he said.
I mean, look-it’s all about avoiding patterns and not letting anything ever become predictable. “We’ve gotta change this, ‘” Kirkman said of his re-working his story for television.
The Walking Dead season six premieres on AMC in the U.S. on October 11, following in the United Kingdom on Monday, October 12.
