‘The Walking Dead’ CGI Deer: All the Memes You Need to See
This still being The Walking Dead, Rick and Michonne’s vacay is actually a recon mission to find guns. I had to admit, I myself was sitting just waiting for the dialogue between Rick and Michonne to fit in “Say Yes” somewhere.
Rick’s sweet, sort-of proposal to Michonne made me smile. She takes 20 of Rick’s guns, as well as the “cat” he gifted Michonne a few weeks back, before reiterating they need more guns before helping him fight Negan. Yes, it would relegate the rest of the Alexandrians to death, but I’m pretty much done with them anyway. They use barriers once meant to guard carnival rides serve as temporary protection while they cut off zombie’s heads. Tara wants to stop people who will hurt other people and I think that leaves her with no choice.
As promised in the preview, she’s taking matters into her own hands. Though the work to collect the weapons was definitely intimidating, it’s nothing Rick and Michonne couldn’t handle – after they enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner of chili and mac and cheese.
There are some characters, like Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who can separate themselves from feeling anything – but then there are our heroes, who are practically unwilling to go on in the face of losing someone they love. (We don’t know for sure if she tells him.) But even if Rick can get the guns from there, he still needs more time. Rick is once again distracted by a deer, and climbs up onto a precarious structure to try and get a good shot at it, but ends up falling right into the middle of a pack of walkers. She can lose him, or he can lose her, or they can lose friends because it’s not about them anymore. Securing a safe future for the next generation is the priority, he says, and if he doesn’t make it then Michonne has to step up and lead in his place. Gabriel casually accepts the “blame” for Rosita still being alive and asks her what she’s going to do with her life now. Michonne has been one of the series most independent figures since her first appearance, but her connection with Rick has reduced that independence. And while there was promise with Sasha and Abraham, isn’t she committed to staying with Maggie and her unborn child? The only thing missing was “I Got You Babe” playing in the background. But just as Tara appeared tell Rick everything, Rosita made her way to the Hilltop, where she met up with Sasha, bringing an impressive sniper rifle and plan to kill Negan with her. There’s something nearly charmingly normal about all this; they go hunting, they find a couple of Saviors and steal their shit (and kill them, I’m guessing, although we don’t see it happen). Of course, her scenes are really a vehicle to get the plot moving for some of the other characters.
Rosita and Sasha nearly definitely won’t succeed in completing their Negan kill mission, but just how badly they’ll fare in the process is anyone’s guess. Well, we suppose they could wait until he takes a morning stroll with that damn baseball bat. It’s a tense scene and one where director Greg Nicotero really makes you believe – for a split second at least, that the main character’s just been killed off. She’s also anxious that if Rick and company head to Oceanside, the two groups will end up fighting each other, and she doesn’t want anyone from either group to get hurt. Getting a little cocky there aren’t we, kids?
There was one ironclad reason why Rosita and Sasha won’t be successful: Negan won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
The Walking Dead introduced another grotesque walker which stood in the way between Rosita and a handgun. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Elsewhere, we have to deal with Rosita’s bullshit.
