The Weeknd Releases a Preview to His “Beauty Behind the Madness” LP
This means The Weeknd is going to rule this week, which isn’t a bad thing, especially when it includes the video to the Kanye West-produced “Tell Your Friends”.
The Weeknd buries himself alive and guns down an eerie-looking old man in the Grant Singer-directed video for “Tell Your Friends“. (Or, to be more precise, dancing away.) Not that the Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has gone squeaky clean. You can also preview the entire project via a series of snippets that The Weeknd released over the weekend. Although we all know the alternative R&B singers sound is changing, he nods at his past within the song, “I’m that nigga with the hair / Singing ’bout popping pills, f***ing bitches, living life so trill”. On August 28, Beauty Behind The Madness is expected to drop and will certainly echo the success of “Can’t Feel My Face”, the album’s lead single that is now dominating multiple charts, making it very hard for any forthcoming tracks to follow.
Which brings us to The Weeknd’s second album, Beauty Behind the Madness, arriving Friday with the weight of expectations on its shoulders.
