The singer, songwriter, producer, painter and actor was described in a New York Times obituary as having “the voice of a rock belter but the sensibility of a cabaret singer”. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, he revealed that a week before his death, Bowie contacted Visconti and said he wanted to make another album.
Van Hove said that at the Lazarus premiere in NY on December 7, Bowie collapsed from exhaustion – “It was then that I realised it may be the last time I would see him”.
“I wasn’t, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life”. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram were overflowing with tributes to the pop star whose music was influenced by his one-of-a-kind artistic vision.
“I often wonder what might have been”, he said of his decision to join Yes and not work with Bowie again.
