The X-Flies 21-Minute Featurette Released
There’s less than a month left to wait until Fox Mulder and Dana Scully re-open The X-Files. And while a number of set photos, teasers, and trailers have been released this year, series creator Chris Carter has kept the new episodes under fairly tight wraps.
The X-Files, the iconic TV series that generously gifted the universe with nine stacked seasons and inspired the name of at least one late-90s alt rock band, is returning to its old stomping grounds in January with a six-episode event series. The clip also offers a first-look at the resurrected Lone Gunmen, Scully’s son as well as Joel McHale’s Tad O’Malley and Annet Mahendru’s Sveta. Front and center of the in-depth preview are Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, who can be seen in scenes as Scully and Mulder but also sit down share their own personal thoughts about what makes this X-Files revival so special. “It was always tied to how it affected Mulder and Scully as human beings, and same here”, writer Darin Morgan, who penned some of The X-Files most beloved and offbeat episodes, says in the preview. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. The six-episode miniseries is set to premiere January 24 on Fox, immediately following the NFC Championship Game.
