There’s A 20-Year Reunion For Reporters Who Covered The OJ Simpson Verdict
Of course O.J. didn’t end his life in Kim Kardashian’s childhood bedroom that day.
Simpson was at the Kardashian residence on June 17 prior to the infamous Bronco freeway chase with Robert Kardashian Sr, who acted as an advisor during his murder trial.
According to US Weekly, Simpson said: “Please remember me as ‘The Juice.’ Please remember me as a good guy”.
The drama and tension of the trial – coverage of which became a mainstay of television schedules around the world in 1995 – is set to be revisited on its 20 anniversary in a number of documentaries and even a dramatisation (courtesy of Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy). “After 20 years, I have not chosen to argue with anyone who has a belief that Mr. Simpson was responsible for two deaths”, said Douglas.
These days, Simpson is languishing at a prison in Nevada, following his 2008 conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping stemming from a confrontation with memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel. But the defense argued that investigators mishandled evidence and proved that a key detective lied on the witness stand. And when Simpson tried on a bloody glove, it appeared too small to fit his hand. Of course, shortly after this, O.J. would get into a white Ford Bronco and engage in one of the most popular high-speed chases of all-time. “But I’ll tell you, I had a chance to work on this one case for 16 months”. My little girl Kim sleeps here.
“This is my daughter’s bedroom”, Kardashian told Simpson. Please, please, please, please leave my kids at peace. Cuba Gooding Jr. will portray O.J. Simpson, and former “Friends” star (Ross Gellar) David Schwimmer will play Robert Kardashian Sr. “I can’t have my little girl in this bedroom and every time I come in here I’m gonna see your body”.
The O.J. Simpson murder trial spoke volumes about race and the criminal justice system in America. Not likely to be seen near as much is the other memorable, more searing image from the courtroom that day: Kim Goldman weeping for her brother as her father, Fred, comforts her and shakes his head in disbelief.
