There’s Unrest at the Democratic National Committee – and Top Dem Is ‘Really
This was no random decision; Wasserman Schultz and a few others on the DNC intended for the nomination process to be a coronation of Hillary Clinton, and didn’t want to expose her marginal political skills to her opponents, or to the public, any more than necessary.
“This is not a back-and-forth between a chair and a vice chair”, former mayor of Minneapolis R.T. Rybak told the Times.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was in Pittsburgh today to promote the party’s candidates for state Supreme Court and state senate. Most called it ridiculous, outrageous, or worse. This is not just about how many debates we have.
Wasserman Schultz is a serial liar and gaffe machine, but this is the first time anyone so high up in the Democratic Party has questioned her veracity.
Lesser known candidates and several Democratic leaders have urged more debates, but Wasserman Schultz has stood firm at six.
“Like many other people, I have kept my mouth shut, and have tried to make the situation work for months”.
He then implied that the Florida representative’s leadership was being questioned internally.
The DNC is planning to hold 6 debates, but many, including presidential contenders Martin O’Malley and Sen. “This is one of a series of long-running events in which the chair has not shown the political judgment that is needed”.
Still, the ongoing problems of the frequently hysterical Wasserman-Schultz and the seemingly endless drama she creates for her party seem to be taking a toll.
“There’s only one single thing that I see standing between us and a great election coming up and that’s the fact that the person who is supposed to leading us is not leading us”, Rybak said. That led Wasserman Schultz to call Gabbard a liar, in effect, by insisting that she had consulted with the party’s officers, including Gabbard, before scheduling the debates. But the dispute over debates has proven sufficiently contentious that it is suddenly causing those tongues to loosen.
Wasserman Schultz: I have twin 16-year-olds and a 12-year-old.
The party chairwoman said she had consulted DNC officers about the debate schedule.
But there is no doubt trouble is a-brewin’, especially among down ballot candidates who fear Wasserman Schultz is a liability with a few vital party constituencies. “To the contrary, the women in charge seem eager, more and more, to have her skate into the general [election]”, she said.
It’s probably worth noting who wrote that letter: Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
