Comparisons were made to a “cheap garage sale”, and customers began to poke fun at some of the more comical offerings: It’s Amazon Prime Day!
There will be new deals every 10 minutes today and lightning deals throughout the day.
Walmart is not-so-subtly crashing Amazon’s 20th anniversary sale event with its own day – well, make that week – of steep discounts. The huge sale is to celebrate the online retailer’s 20th birthday.
Despite its shameless commercial nature it’s probably best if you learn to love it all the same because ultimately the 15 July is going to save you an enormous amount of money. That means any of the company’s Prime users will have access to more sales items than they do on Black Friday, the Friday after Thanksgiving that often is the busiest shopping day of the year.
Numerous top deals sold out within seconds on Black Friday, and the same is likely again even with a smaller base of shoppers.
Walmart is countering by reducing its shipping from $50 to $35 for at least 30 days.
Prime Day will also allow members the chance to win from $1,000 to $25,000 in Amazon gift cards and tickets and a trip to the season two premiere of Transparent.
The e-commerce world is gearing up for Amazon Prime Day, which is expected to have more deals than Black Friday.
A Chromebook will go on sale for $199. A standard Prime membership costs £79 a month, or £5.99 a week, but you can take advantage of the Amazon Prime Day sale through its 30-day Free Trial.
The special offers are only available to those Amazon customers who use the Prime service – but around 45% of all Amazon’s U.S. customers already do.
