Thicke: Family time gave me perspective
Robin Thicke, who separated from Paulo Patton in Feb 2014, has had a tough time dealing with his personal problems among unprecedented commercial success. The Nicki Minaj-assisted song, produced by Max Martin, is the newest single from Mr. Thicke’s upcoming eighth studio album, the follow-up to last year’s major flop “Paula”, which is due in stores later in 2015 via Interscope.
The R&B crooner has unveiled a new video for his latest single, featuring a scantily-clad Nicki Minaj (who slays, as usual) and a bevy of bikini-ed beauties.
Robin Thicke said his son Julian is responsible for his new outlook on life. It’s no “Blurred Lines“, but we think that’s probably for the best. Rather than getting back together with someone it is about getting yourself back together. ‘It helps you gain perspective on what’s important in life’.
“I started songwriting and producing and singing professionally when I was 16, and I never really stopped until last year”, Thicke told Good Morning America on August 12.
‘I took some time off to just be with my son and my family, ‘ he explained.
“I just finally took a few months off or more and spent a lot of time with my parents even, talking with them, getting their advice”, he added. “I always kind of grew up thinking I knew what I was doing you know?”
He first attempted to win back Patton’s affections with the release of his album Paula, and the lead single “Get Her Back”. “I spent so much time with my son and that just made me realize what was most important”.
Meanwhile, Thick, 38, is now dating 20-year-old April Geary Love, and in spite of their 18-year age difference, the singer’s father Alan Thicke has given the model his stamp of approval.
