Thierry Henry: ‘I would always say yes to Arsenal’
Petr Cech has taken the unusual step of accepting personal responsibility for Arsenal‘s defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
“There’s no uncertainty [with the players about his future], I told you many times”.
Arsenal had arrived at Brighton on the back of defeats against Manchester City in the League Cup final last Sunday and the league on Thursday.
“I don’t deny that, but we’ll analyse that at the end of the season”.
Arsenal are 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the table with nine games to go, and Wenger acknowledged their hopes were now out of their hands following the latest setback.
Arsenal completed a awful week by losing 2-1 at Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday to slip 13 points off the Champions League qualification positions and pile more pressure on manager Arsene Wenger. At this rate it wouldn’t be too big a surprise to see the club fall out of the top-6 altogether. The point is, most organizations would have done something by now to either right the ship or ensure that the ship doesn’t sink until it’s righted.
“The real story of Arsenal in my view is the business things”.
Later, Manchester City moved within four wins of a third Premier League crown in six years with a 1-0 win over champions Chelsea.
The result has piled the pressure on embattled manager Wenger ahead of Friday morning’s (Singapore time) Europa League Round-of-16, first-leg clash with AC Milan.
“I think the two games against Man City showed how far Arsenal have slipped from the team they once were and how far off Wenger has become in terms of cutting edge”.
However, Henry is desperate for his under-fire fellow Frenchman to have the “last word” on an Arsenal career that started back when Wenger took charge of the north London club in 1996. “I believe I can do it”.
He added: “Overall we made some defensive mistakes”. I am sure that he is upset with former players talking about Arsenal and Arsene, the way the club is managing the players, the frustration with former players and how unhappy he is with what they say in public.
But Wenger still insists he is the right man to manage Arsenal.
Arsenal likely would be in the Champions League race if they were better away from Emirates Stadium. We were good first half and might have scored another.
