Thieves steal Rs 2.25 crore worth of iPhones in Delhi
Joined by two others, they drove towards the ridge area in Rangpur Pahadi. Their efforts, however, proved a missed call when police tracked them down and recovered the booty.
However, the police have nabbed the robbers within 48 hours of the incident and recovered all the iPhones. The hijacking took place near the Rajokri flyover. He, however, ignored the polythene thinking it might be trash. To relieve himself and get some air, he stopped the truck when the two thieves who were following him, forced their way into the truck at knife point.
Two men were arrested in India after stealing a truck filled with over 950 iPhones, which were, unfortunately, not even the ones they wanted. The accused were part of a gang of four that allegedly threw chilli powder into the truck, incapacitating the driver, Kalam Singh.
“Singh told us that the men held him hostage and drove the truck around. Singh was dumped somewhere near Najafgarh after which he approached his transporter, Malkhan Singh”, a senior police officer said. The auto which was used in the robbery was identified after CCTV footages of the three routes were reviewed and the truck with the consignment was identified on the route Sector-E, Pocket-2 Vasant Kunj and it was concluded that the accused could have taken only three routes from this location to escape.
Investigators soon learnt that two drivers- Bhola and Pradeep – had quit their jobs with the firm two days before the crime. “CCTV footage from all three routes was checked and the Eicher Canter which was used to transport the phones was spotted in footage of Sector-E in Vasant Kunj”, additional DCP, Nupur Prasad, said.
The accused have also confessed to having committed the crime along with their accomplices Bhola, Rahul and Jitender, the officer added. Raids are on to arrest them.
