Things Are Already Tense Between Ndamukong Suh And The Dolphins
On Monday morning, there were reports surfacing on multiple fronts that Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was freelancing against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to the Miami Herald, Suh went off script and strayed from Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coye’s game plan.
Head Coach Joe Philbin denied that Suh went off script. Philbin says he watched the game film and saw no evidence of Suh doing anything wrong, in a statement to the Sun Sentinel.
The Dolphins lost to Jacksonville on Sunday, and their much touted defense failed to show up for the second week in a row. Why? “Obviously we’ve got high expectations about not just the pass rush but the overall play of our group”, Coyle said.
When asked to talk about his lack of involvement within the game plan, Suh expressed himself with no regrets. That’s going to inhibit a guys ability to make plays.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle), defensive end Cam Wake (hamstring), left tackle Branden Albert (hamstring), running back Lamar Miller (ankle) and tight end Jordan Cameron (groin) were all injured on Sunday. But that hasn’t been the case in the regular season for Suh, who had 8.5 sacks last season for Detroit.
Suh seems to be suggesting that the play calling could be the culprit behind his slow start.
“I think you have to take into account, you have to look at what’s happening – the bigger picture of things”. Defense is not about one player. Are they sliding to center that way every time? Philbin said stats don’t tell the entire story. Are they double teaming every single time? “I have to base it on the two games that I’ve seen, the video that I’ve watched, how teams are attacking us, and so forth”.
