Things WWE Got Right At Hell In A Cell 2017
In the constantly changing landscape of wrestling, there isn’t much that you can count on.
A shocking heel turn from Zayn, who was the bitter enemy of Owens for years, going back to their Ring of Honor days.
Orton came out on top at Hell in a Cell in a match that at least went a mildly acceptable length, but WWE has some work to do to unpick the damage of making the Bulgarian Brute something of a laughing stock. Pictured: John Cena (L) and Shane McMahon (R) attend Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals at Staples Center on May 21, 2009 in Los Angeles. Instead, it was Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon, as they battled inside Hell in a Cell. For an uncomfortably long time, the two brawled on the roof until Owens started climbing down. Is Team Canada destined to prevail or will they fall at Hell in a Cell? Kevin Owens beat McMahon in a Hell in a Cell match to assert his dominance in the new rivalry.
That move wouldn’t be it though. Just as it looked as McMahon had Owens beat after Owens fell from the side of the cell through a table, he chose to continue the punishment. And once again, he missed.
Owens pinned Shane shortly after the crash, after once again receiving help from Zayn. I think this will be a great match, but I’m a little disappointed they didn’t make it a Hell in a Cell match to raise a little interest.
The show will be remembered for another insane Shane McMahon bump and what initially seems like a heel turn for Sami Zayn, who pulled Kevin Owens out of the way at the last second as Shane-O Mac was falling from the heavens. All the tiny details added up to a Hell in a Cell match that makes sense. Styles eventually got the upper hand and nearly forced Dillinger to tap to the Calf Crusher, but Corbin broke it up. That’s who he was.
So all that was left for Sunday night was to see what the big stunt would be. There was even an extremely creative spot as one of the Usos was trapped in the corner, and Xavier Woods trapped him with kendo sticks. The New Day faced The Usos inside Hell in a Cell.
However, Corbin slid into the ring and stole the victory, capturing his very first WWE title. The title can give him the boost he deserves and would provide for some new match-ups, feuds. So, for the better part of the last few months the King of Strong Style has looked like a fool against Mahal and never got that revenge everyone was waiting for. The former champ connected with a Phenomenal Forearm on Dillinger, but Corbin kicked him out of the ring and was able to score the pinfall. Though disqualified, Natalya posed with her title belt over Charlotte’s hurt body. This match wasn’t on the level of there NXT matches but the story worked for me and I’m sure the ending is leading to something.
Despite what many people say on social media, I still believe Dolph is money as a heel. While Booby Roode handed Dolph Ziggler a beating to secure his pay-per-view win.
Ziggler tried to roll up Roode while using the tights for leverage, but Roode countered and did the same thing. While this was going on, Nakamura hit the Kinshasa. It was a somewhat odd finish for Roode’s main roster PPV debut.
Randy may have said on the Edge and Christian podcast that he’s all about putting over young talent right now, but something tells me Rusev won’t be getting that luxury on Sunday.
