Third body found in raided Saint-Denis flat where Isis Paris attacks
French prosecutors confirmed Friday that a third body was found in the Saint-Denis apartment, that of a woman, but have yet to identify her.
“Yesterday night a female body, whose identity remains unconfirmed, was found at the apartment”, Francois Molins said in a statement.
Abdel Hamid Abaaoud was killed during a raid early Wednesday morning, police confirmed.
Abaaoud was first to be killed after a police sniper shot him in the head and then fired numerous grenades.
The French prosecutor’s office said that it had not yet had the opportunity to officially identify another two bodies located in the Rue Cormillon flat, although Abaaoud’s departure was verified.
Officials are also investigating a possible connection between Abaaoud and a jihadist who was detained in July en route to Prague with a false Swedish passport and unspecified plans to commit a terrorist attack, Cazeneuve said.
“Among the six attacks that have been prevented or foiled by the French intelligence services since spring 2015, Abaaoud appears to be involved in four of them”, the minister added.
But Friday, the French TV Station iTele said it was an unidentified man, not a woman, who blew himself up during the shootout with police. He said it was not clear whether Abaaoud had detonated a suicide vest, or died from gunshot wounds.
Abaaoud, a 28-year-old Belgian killed in a police raid in the French capital on Wednesday, told German police on January 20th, 2014, he wanted to visit family and friends in the Turkish city and would return to Europe, Spiegel said.
France started on Thursday to legislate on a raft of measures that it has promised to take after Friday’s wave of shootings and bombings in Paris, which left at least 129 people dead and 352 injured. Neither was Salah Abdeslam, a French citizen suspected of involvement in Friday’s coordinated wave of terrorist violence carried out in the name of ISIS.
According to the official, one of the officers asked: “Where is your boyfriend?” and she responded angrily: “He’s not my boyfriend!” before there was an explosion.
“But we know and bear in mind that there is also a risk of chemical or bacteriological weapons”, Valls said. Fifty-eight percent of people said they are “very concerned”.
Police say they launched Wednesday’s operation after receiving information from tapped phone calls, surveillance and tipoffs suggesting that Abaaoud was holed up in the apartment.
