Third Pedestrian This Week Killed by Bus in New York City
Police say Roper was driving an out-of-service B-15 bus when it struck and killed 70-year-old Carol Bell as it was making a right turn.
Connecticut State Police said a bus was stopped at a rest area along I-95 Northbound in Madison early Friday morning.
She was not in a crosswalk as she crossed at Main Street and Kissena Boulevard at 8:30 p.m., according to officials. Police say the bus had the word “Skyliner” written on the side.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle may have been a charter bus. The bus was headed to Foxwoods Casino and would have driven through Flushing, Queens, to pick up passengers at the time of the crash. But the manager said it was unclear if the bus that was stopped was involved in the fatal accident.
The NYPD said it could not comment on the ongoing investigation. The driver left the scene and no arrests have been made.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
