Thirty years since the Challenger space shuttle explosion
Wreaths were laid at Arlington National Cemetery near the US Capitol as NASA commemorated the 24 US lives lost in space disasters and test flights over the years.

“From new partnerships with private industry to the development of groundbreaking inventions that Americans will take with them into the Solar System and eventually to Mars, we will continue our journey of discovery”.
Also to mark the anniversary, a moment of silence was held on the global space station.
Six NASA astronauts and Christa McAuliffe – who would have been the first teacher in space – were killed in the Challenger disaster, when the shuttle exploded 73 seconds after liftoff.
Millions of Americans were crowded around their Television sets to witness the launch of the Challenger Space Shuttle on a attractive day in Cape Canaveral.
The other major shuttle accident was on February 1, 2003. He would teach them to take pictures of things we would find interesting from outer space. All seven people on board died. “They have our eternal respect, love and gratitude”, said a statement by NASA administrator Charles Bolden, a former astronaut.
Ebeling said he and some other engineers had warned program managers at NASA that the shuttle’s booster rockets would not seal appropriately in cold temperatures and it was going to be the coldest launch of a space shuttle ever. “She challenged herself, and she challenged those around her, so we remember (her memory) as a way to fulfill our dreams for our students”.
