This guy punched a kangaroo in the face to save his dog
Australian Greig Tonkins has been uncovered as the man who defended his pet dog by punching a kangaroo while out on a hunting trip.
The video was first shared on the Facebook page of user Steven Stubenraugh, where it’s since received 3.8 million views at the time of writing.
The dog didn’t return and the man then spots that he’s got himself into a spot of bother with a large kangaroo.
Amor told news.com.au he made a decision to organixe a small group of friends, including Kailem and Greig Tonkins, to go on the boar-hunting trip at his property in Condobolin, New South Wales, after hearing about Kailem’s deteriorating condition.
Wayne Gerald captioned the footage: “Man punches kangaroo right in the kisser”. He delivers a single punch to the kangaroo’s face, shocking the ‘roo before the animal hops away.
The Huffington Post quoted Queensland’s Department of Environment and Heritage Protection as saying that anyone who has been attacked by a kangaroo should roll themselves into a ball on the ground and cover their neck. The zoo believes Tonkins took “appropriate action” against the marsupial, according to a statement from the facility.
“It was amusing because [Mr Tonkins] is the most placid bloke”.
Man punches kangaroo in the face to save dog being strangled: Both man and roo make off.
‘He only threw the punch to redirect the animal and afterwards there were a few nervous and relieved laughs, and then we just went on with getting Kailem a tonner’.
The outing had been organized for Kailem Barwick, a young man battling cancer who hoped to catch a giant “one tonner” boar. “It just grabbed him”.
Tonkins, 34, was part of a group hunting wild boar – it was a dying friend’s last wish – when he realized Max had gotten into a scuffle with a big kangaroo.
